APRIL IN THE CHILDREN’S ROOM AT THE MERRICK LIBRARY
SCHOOL VACATION April 2nd-10th
ERIK’S REPTILE ADVENTURE: Thursday, April 5th at 11:00am
Erik will be bringing 12 live animals including snakes, frogs, turtles and
lizards and explain to children in grades 2-6 how these reptiles survive
in the wild; plenty of hands-on activities. PROGRAM WILL BE HELD IN MULTI
PURPOSE ROOM on first floor. No registration required.
UNIQUE STUFFABLE ANIMALS: Tuesday, April 10th at 10:30 & 11:45am
Each child will stuff their own “plush” animal, choosing from a large
selection. They will dress, weigh and name it and receive a birth
certificate & wishing heart. Children age 3-5 (not yet in kindergarten)
with a helper will meet at 10:30. Children in grades K-3 will meet at
11:45. Registration for both sessions begins March 28th. There is a
$10.00 fee for this program.
AUTHOR STUART PALTROWITZ: Thursday, April 19th at 4:00
Join us during National Library Week to hear Mr. Paltrowitz discuss and
read from his book, Silliest Stories You Never Heard. Enjoy some silly
stories and meet the author. A copy of his book will be raffled off. No
registration is required.
LEVITTOWN PUPPET THEATER: Tuesday, April 24th at 1:00
The Levittown Puppet Theater is associated with the Town of Hempstead
Senior Citizen Center in Levittown. They will present a short show
featuring hand puppets, many crafted by the members of the troupe. All
are welcome to attend; registration is not necessary.
YOGA: Monday, April 23rd at 4:00pm
Children in grades 4-6 will be instructed in yoga techniques. Please
bring a mat or towel and do not eat for 2 hours before the class. There
is a $3.00 fee for this program due at registration, which begins April
16th.
